Facing finals-bound sides in four of the final six matches of the home and away season could be considered a curse, but Geelong senior coach Chris Scott sees it as nothing short of a blessing.

The Cats tackle the ladder-leading Crows at the Adelaide Oval on Friday night, and will face off against Sydney in round 20, Richmond in round 21 and the Giants in final round of the season – a stark contrast to last year’s run home which saw Geelong play four teams out of finals contention over the final six weeks of the season.

Scott knows which preparation he’d prefer.

“You’d prefer to be playing the better teams, assuming you can get the result, towards the end of the year,” Scott told this week’s episode of Momentum Energy’s #AskTheCoach.

“The most pressing issue is that we have the opportunity to play teams that are competing for similar spots on the ladder, so that will be the priority.

“But in terms of trying to replicate the sort of pressure you’ll get, that’s obviously a better thing.”
