GEELONG'S AFLW side will play together as a team for the first time this Saturday in a practice match against Carlton at Ikon Park.

The game will be the side's first and only intra-club hitout before the season proper gets underway on February 2 against Collingwood.

"We hope to be able to play all our players that are fit and able so that people do get a sense of the players putting their best foot forward for selection, and also being able to play together," assistant coach Natalie Wood said.

"At the moment we do match sim and you split players up and half are in one team and half in the other. It gives that opportunity to be all in the one team wearing the same jumper and trying to play our structures.

The general public can gain free entry to the game, with public access to the venue from 9.30am through the main gates at reception for an 11 o'clock start.

The two sides will play four 20-minute quarters.
