CATS star Harry Taylor has won the Jim Stynes Medal after being voted Australia's best player in the one-off International Rules Test against Ireland at Croke Park in Dublin.

The Aussies' five coaches cast the votes and Taylor received the maximum five from four of them.

Funnily enough, the one coach who didn't think he was Australia's best player was his boss at Geelong, Chris Scott.

Scott gave the maximum votes to Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell.

Australia surrendered the the Cormac Macanallen Trophy after losing a thrilling match by four points. 

The five coaches voted 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and the result was:

24 - Harry Taylor 55554.

15 - Nick Riewoldt 44421.

14 - Sam Mitchell 53321.

14 - Andrew Gaff 43322.

5 - Luke Hodge 2111.

3 - Brendon Goddard 3.
