Geelong’s skipper Joel Selwood spoke to Cats TV after the team returned to the rooms with their impressive 19-point win over the Hawks at the MCG.

Selwood said it was the Cats ability to conjoin together when the pressure hit that gave them the strength to pull down the league’s biggest contender.

“We are all joining in as a team and if someone is down we’re just making up for them - I thought it was a really good and rewarding team effort today.”

Despite being a commended team slog, Selwood admits that Tom Hawkins dominance in the last quarter was a performance that deserved high praise.

“I don’t know what it is with Hawkins and last quarters at the moment but it’s working for us and we really enjoy kicking it to him and it was great seeing him finish it off,” Selwood said.

“He’s so great for us.”

Although the Cats remain undefeated to date, Selwood says there are still areas that need a lot more work.

“There’s plenty to work on. We didn’t get everything right today, we were a bit sloppy… but we did enough to get the job done.”
