Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield and wife Mardi have welcomed their newborn baby into the world.

Born on Tuesday night, Dangerfield proudly delivered the news via his new Reel Adventures podcast and was clearly overjoyed.

“On Tuesday night, at about a quarter past six, the little boy George was born,” Dangerfield declared.

“His name is George Patrick Dangerfield. Mum is very, very healthy. We had a wonderful night. [He’s] weighing in at about seven pounds twelve ounces.”

Having played 154 games for the Crows, the 27-year-old midfielder has made 38 appearances for Geelong and will need to reach 100 games with his current club for George to become a Cat as a father-son selection.

“I won’t lie to you. And I’ve always said all along that the sex doesn’t matter. But when I saw that [he was a boy] I could’ve done cartwheels,” Dangerfield laughed.

“It was a wonderful, wonderful night.”

Congratulations to Patrick, wife Mardi and to George – we can’t wait to meet you.
