Whilst it can be easy to ring the changes after a big loss, the Cats won't take the reactionary view. However there are plenty of names throwing their hand up for a spot in the AFL side.

Darcy Lang
Lang was named as emergency for the Cats against the Swans and the AFL side could have perhaps used some of his zip and skill. The Cats first draft pick last year is looming as an exciting addition to the AFL side.

Tom Lonergan
After two first quarter knocks against the Roos resulting in a concussion and missing Thursday night’s clash, if Lonergan’s recovery continues to progress as it does he should be available to take on Carlton this week.

Taylor Hunt
Hunt found himself out of the side following the loss to Fremantle and hasn’t found his way back in yet. Named emergency, Hunt could come back in to take on Marc Murphy from the Blues who he shut down and kicked three goals on last season.

Josh Walker
Are the Cats lacking another tall forward option. Debate surrounds the make up of the Cats forward line but should they need another target, Walker will be ready to fill the void.

Jarrad Jansen
Another young Cat who fans want to see is midfielder Jarrad Jansen. Tall and tough, Jansen offers the Cats something different in the midfield and after being convincingly beaten by the Swans mids, perhaps some new blood will be included.

Bradley Hartman
A best on ground VFL performance had Hartman named in the 25 man squad to take on Sydney but alas he remained an emergency. Unlike any other player on the Cats list, the fast and solid Hartman may get an opportunity soon.

Shane Kersten
Should the Cats give Shane Kersten his debut? One school of thought would say one game in the VFL is not enough preparation but another would say the player’s fitness levels from training are better than ever before. Perhaps too early to bring him in but it won’t be far off.

Jackson Thurlow
Thurlow looms as a long-term player for the Cats and will fit neatly in at half-back when the current crop of veterans retire. Starting to show some good VFL form, Thurlow loved playing at Etihad in his debut season last year.

Corey Enright
A player of the skill and silk of Corey Ernight is always picked when ready to play. So the only question is has he got over the ankle niggle.
