Another impressive performance from the senior players this week will make it hard for anyone to push into the AFL side but we look at who is pushing hard for a call up.

Josh Walker
Walker again showed why he will be next tall into the AFL side with a commanding performance against Box Hill. Four goals, 15 touches and even a stint in the ruck with a team high 13 hitouts showed the Walker has now achieved consistency in his game like never before.  He sits atop the VFL goalkicking ladder but he’ll want to be sitting in the Cats forward line very soon.

Jackson Thurlow
Thurlow was the Cats emergency for Monday’s clash and with Andrew Mackie fit to play was not needed. A fast track over in Adelaide as well as the fact Mackie was subbed out in the final term may mean Thurlow is a chance to play his first game for 2014.

Jake Kolodjashnij
Should the Cats not call on Thurlow to come into the Cats backline if needed, Jake Kolodjashnij is continuing his amazing run of form in his first season. The pick 41 from last year’s draft racked up nearly 20 touches with a lot of them rebounding off fifty. The Cats incredible start to the season will allow them to give opportunities to players like Kolodjashnij at some point but when that will be is a whole different question.

Mitch Brown
Brown’s three goals and strong marking will put him right back into contention to return to the Cats AFL side. He spent a lot of Saturday night further up the ground providing a target. Should the Cats look to rest a ruckman the need for another forward target will become apparent and Brown and Walker will be fighting for that spot.

Steven Motlop
So there probably is a less than 1% chance Motlop will come into the Cats side after barely half a game in the VFL but the Cats fans can be excited that a return to the AFL is getting closer. 14 touches and a nice goal was the perfect comeback for the speedster.
