The stage is set for another Cats vs Hawks blockbuster at the MCG this Saturday night.

The Cats will go in with a slight advantage, an eight day break after a tight win over Carlton at Etihad Stadium. While the Hawks endured a 19-point loss to Fremantle at Patersons Stadium late Sunday afternoon which only gifts them a six-day recovery.

With a top two position to play for, the finals-like atmosphere is set to be electric and many Cats players are already looking forward to the club’s biggest game of the season.

“We love playing against Hawthorn – it’s always a big encounter,” Cam Guthrie told News Limited post-match on Friday night.

“I reckon it will really tell us where we’re at heading into the finals, so it should be an interesting one.”

“The travel might take a little bit out of Hawthorn, but we can’t wait to play them next week,” Guthrie said.

“We just need to keep winning.”

Speaking to Cats TV post-match on Friday night, ruckman Hamish McIntosh was already looking forward to what may be his biggest game to date.

“I was saying before that it was probably the biggest game of my career, the Easter Monday game and I’m tipping next Saturday night might top it.

“It’s going to be a massive crowd and I can’t wait.”

Another chapter in the story of these modern-day rivals is set to be written; who will prevail is anyone’s guess.
