COREY Enright says his injured ankle is getting better each day and he remains optimistic of taking his place in Geelong's blockbuster clash with Collingwood on Saturday night at the MCG.

But the five-time All Australian has conceded it's too early in the season to play with injury, and he won't run out if he's not fit.
"It feels pretty good at this stage," Enright said on Wednesday.

"Obviously it's early days yet, but it's improving each day.

"It's too early to tell [if I'll play]. It's a long way out … as long as it keeps improving, that's all we can ask for at this stage."

Enright was subbed out of the 25-point win over the Lions after twisting his right ankle in the third quarter in a Jordan Lisle tackle.

He donned a moon boot when the team flew home from Brisbane and had scans on Monday which revealed no major damage.

Coach Chris Scott said the 32-year-old would be given every opportunity to prove his fitness right up until the final teams are lodged to face the Magpies on Saturday.

Enright predicted the clash between the two big Victorian clubs would live up to its usual hype.

The Pies have won the last three, two of which were by two goals or less. The Cats won the three before that, including the 2011 Grand Final.

"They're a very good side and they're well coached, so it should be a good game on Saturday night at the MCG," he said.

"They've got some dangerous players and they match up well against us, so I think it will be a cracking game."
