CATS young gun Nakia Cockatoo has returned to the club fit and refreshed after spending his off-season break at home in Darwin.

Cockatoo, who played 11 AFL games during his debut campaign in 2015, began his pre-season program on Monday alongside the rest of the club’s first- to fourth-year players.

He ran impressively during the first couple of time-trials.

“It’s definitely good to be back after an eight-week break,” the 19-year-old told CatsTV.

Cockatoo enjoyed plenty of downtime while at home in Darwin.

But, as he revealed on his Instagram account, he was also put to work by his mum.

Scrubbing the grout on some tiles was one job he was lumped with.

“She just said get a tooth brush and start scrubbing the ground, so I did that,” Cockatoo said with a grin.

“She got me doing other things as well. She got me sanding the decking out the back. That took about a day and a bit.”
