THE CATS’ long and proud history is being brought to life by a new exhibition in the Community Centre at Simonds Stadium.

Titled A History of the Geelong Football Club in 50 Objects, the exhibition features a number of priceless items.

Perhaps the greatest piece on display is the first Brownlow Medal, which was won by Edward ‘Carji’ Greeves in 1924.

Other items include a lace-up guernsey worn by Billy Wilton in 1912, a club membership ticket from 1864, a tin of Whiskas cat food with Garry Hocking’s face on the label, and the boots that Joel Selwood wore in his 200th game.

Curated by the club’s honouring the past co-ordinator, Sharron Dickman, the exhibition is open, free of charge, on Thursday, December 10 between 3pm and 5pm.

It is also open between 3pm and 5pm on Wednesday, December 16.

Exhibition catalogues, which feature detailed information on all 50 items on display, can be purchased at the Community Centre for $5, or three for $12, with all proceeds going to the GFC Historical Society.
