With their finals hopes all but dashed, the VFL Cats will look to finish the year on a high note when they take on Sandringham in their second last game of the season.

The VFL Cats meet the Zebras on Sunday afternoon and will regain a number of names for the clash.

Josh Cowan will return after missing last week as will Jordan Cunico and VFL listed players Sandy Robinson, Nick Dixon, Mitch Herbison and Dane McFarlane are also set to return after being named in the squad of 27.

The Cats will be without Nathan Vardy (AFL selection),  Jed Bews (AFL selection), Daniel Menzel (managed), Tom Read (managed) and VFL listed midfielder Kieran Paliouras who will miss with a hamstring injury.

The Sandringham Zebras are one of the form teams of the competition who look set to play a big part in the VFL finals series.

Interestingly the third placed Zebras have a number of Cats connections included in heir line-up, Luke Delaney (brother of Cameron), Brodie Murdoch (brother of Jordan) and ex-Cat Mitch Brown who has enjoyed a consistent VFL season.

The last time the two sides met was round 15, 2014 which saw the Cats defeat Sandringham 27.12.174 to 6.9.45.

Head to head the sides have met 25 times, Geelong 15 wins to Sandringham 10.
