The coaches have awarded Geelong's Zac Smith best on ground honours in the Cats' win over the Giants.

Smith polled eight votes in the AFL Coaches' Association Champion Player of the Year award after having the better of GWS big man Shane Mumford.

The former Sun finished the game with 19 disposals, 31 hit-outs, four tackles and a goal in what was probably his best effort in the hoops so far.

Cats players dominated the voting, with Dylan Shiel the only Giant to poll.

Star Geelong midfielders Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood remain prominent on the overall leaderboard.
