Geelong's coaching director, Simon Lloyd, says the recruits won't be the only new things on display when the Cats take on Collingwood in their NAB Challenge opener at Simonds Stadium on Friday, February 26.

The coaches and players have been tweaking their game-plan over the summer, with the changes to be put into action against the Pies.

"There are certain things we’ve been working on, specifically around our ball-movement, our defence and around our stoppage work," Lloyd told CatsTV during an interview that forms part of the pre-season video series.

"[The fans will see] see some trends over the next few weeks."

Lloyd was in the thick of the action when the coaches tested out their temporary facilities at Simonds Stadium for the first time during a match-simulation session on Wednesday.

The temporary coaches' box, which is basically a portable office on stilts, will be used until the latest stage of the stadium redevelopment is completed.

The occupational health and safety requirements that come with having the coaches' box in the middle of a building site created a few funny moments.

Lloyd and his fellow coaches had to wear steel-capped boots, high-visibility vests and hard-hats to walk the short distance between the playing surface and the coaches' box.
