A common belief amongst the Cats Media crew is that if the Cats look on in the first five minutes then it bodes well for a positive result.

And it would seem after analysis of quarter time scores we aren’t far off.

In 2016, the 11 times the Cats have lead at quarter time they’ve gone on to win every single match.

In contrast, if we trail at quarter time we have only gone on to win five of those nine games. The round 10 clash with Carlton saw the scores level at quarter time before the Cats went on to lose by 19.

The Cats had their best first quarter of the season on Sunday booting 7.3 45 to the Lions. The previous highest first quarter was also against the Lions in round three when they booted 6.2 38.
