Leading up to Cam Guthrie’s 50th game this Thursday night against the Swans, Geelong veterans and Chris Scott take a minute to share their thoughts on the upcoming star.

Last year Guthrie had his best game against the Swans, where he raked in 20 disposals at 100% efficiency. This year the young defender and emerging midfielder has again shown his importance amongst the Cats best 22.

Recently in Round 9, during the Cats most grueling battle against Fremantle, the 21-year-old delivered a career best result of 29 disposals, followed by three clearances and three inside 50s.

Key defender Corey Enright couldn’t be more impressed with Guthrie’s development and tenacity on and off the field, which he says has placed him in the list of Geelong’s most crucial players.

“He’s a beauty Cam, firstly he’s a great teammate to play with but also to train with,” Enright told Cats TV.

"He wants to learn and he wants to get better and those guys are fantastic… and he has become a really vital cog for us.

"We know what he can do down in the backline now, he’s a trusted player down there.

“The coaches can just put him in and he’ll do his job and come out on top in more weeks than not and that’s a fantastic quality to have.”
