At the beginning of the year Geelong Cats were not on top of the AFL expert’s list as 2013 premiership favourites.

Cats TV spoke to Tom Lonergan and journalist Scott Gullan on Argue the Toss, to discuss whether or not they felt a lack of belief from AFL experts had relevant impact on the Cats recent performance?

Lonergan said no outside predictions had affected the way the Cats play, it all comes down to their positive culture and the fact that they want to win premierships.

“I don’t think it has any to be honest, I think we’ve got a great culture at the footy club, when you get a new bloke into the team we expect them to play the Geelong way.”

“We obviously do read about it but it is not something we focus on, we’ve got our own goals, and we want to win premierships and that’s what sets us apart I think.

Despite tipping against the Cats last week, Gullan, along with many others, can see the Cats have once again made their way back on top, as premiership favourites.

“I think what happens is they won in 2011 and then the way it went out in 2012 people said, finally they’re going to have a little lull, and the lull was going to be that they finished sixth or seventh,” Gullan said.

“… people don’t give credit to the kids and the rejuvenation that we’re seeing and I think, now four rounds in, Geelong are seen as premiership favourites, they’d have to be with Hawthorn."

“People are realizing to forget the lulls they’re just not going to happen, they’re hungry, the kids are better than people thought, so I don’t think you’ll find the tips are going to be wrong from now on."
