With spots at a premium and not many rounds to get one before finals, the In the Mix has never been so important.

Mitch Brown
A really solid outing for Brown on the weekend finishing with 14 touches, seven marks and a goal in the key forward role. Chris Scott has said the Cats forward line targets aren’t locked in to being just Hawkins and Kersten so could Brown who booted three goals in the opening round be in line for an assignment?

Billie Smedts
The Cats will be thrilled with Smedts’ intent since returning to the VFL. He starred on Saturday night finishing with a team-high 24 touches, four tackles and six rebounds from 50. He is fighting with Jed Bews for the small defender spot in the AFL side but unfortunately for both, the Cats AFL defence is rock solid.

Dawson Simpson
Simpson had an intriguing battle with former Cat Orren Stephenson on Saturday night. Simpson finished with 10 touches, 33 hitouts and seven clearances in a good night for the big man. Some back soreness will be assessed this week but Scott has said he’ll try the two big rucks again at some point.

Jed Bews
Matthew Knights described how stiff Bews was to be dropped from the AFL side in his post-match press conference and his job on Aaron Edwards showed that Knights was right on the money. Bews was best on  ground finishing with 15 touches, seven marks and plenty of team oriented work around the ground. The Cats will have no problem slotting Bews back in when needed.

Jackson Thurlow
Thurlow has had a role change for the Cats moving from backline/midfield to a more attacking role up forward for the Cats. In horrendous conditions, Thurlow finished with a game-high 11 marks to go along with 18 possessions and five inside 50s. Could he be an x-factor in the AFL side come the end of the year?
