Three Geelong players have been recognised by the coaches for their strong performances against the GWS Giants on Sunday afternoon. 

Max Holmes lead the way for the Cats receiving five coaches votes for his terrific display, accumulating 30 disposals and a game high 14 score involvements.

The young star provided outstanding run and carry for Geelong with a game high 710 metres gained, while also winning six clearances in a well-rounded performance. 

The five votes now moves Holmes into third place on the Cats coaches votes leaderboard in 2025, with a total of 16 votes for the year.

Mark Blicavs has featured in the votes for the second time this year, awarded four votes for a brilliant performance in the ruck against GWS. 

Collecting 20 disposals, 22-hit-outs and nine clearances, Blicavs was instrumental in arresting momentum around stoppages for the Cats after quarter time, while also registering 11 score involvements of his own. 

Bailey Smith rounded out the votes for Geelong, receiving four votes from the coaches after accumulating 35 disposals, 12 score involvements and over 700 metres gained against the Giants. 

This takes Smith to a total of 37 coaches votes for the year which sits fourth on the overall leaderboard, just three votes adrift of new leader, Connor Rozee. 

The AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award is an award voted by the 18 coaching panels on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort by an individual player in a season.
