Cameron Ling celebrates kicking a goal in the 2011 AFL Grand Final.

Geelong 2011 Premiership Captain Cameron Ling is set to be elevated to Club Legend at Geelong’s Hall of Fame event in June.

Ling played 245 games across 12 seasons after being selected with pick 38 in the1999 AFL National Draft, and was a key member of the Club’s 2007, 2009 and 2011 Premiership teams.

Having played his junior football with St Joseph’s and the Geelong Falcons, Ling carved out a remarkable career at the club he grew up supporting, winning the Carji Greeves medal in 2004.

As a midfielder, Ling was renowned for his toughness around the contest, and became one of the league’s elite run-with midfielders, still winning plenty of the football himself as he nullified his opponent’s impact on a game.

He played a key role as Geelong established itself as a significant force in the AFL and earned All-Australian selection in the Cats’ remarkable 2007, alongside eight of his teammates.

On his retirement after the 2011 Grand Final triumph, Ling was awarded the AFL Players’ Association Madden Medal, which is awarded to a retiring player to recognise their outstanding achievement on and off the field over the course of their career.

The Club’s 1-4 Year Player Academy is named the Cameron Ling Academy in honour of the Hall of Fame member.

Ling will be officially elevated to Legend Status at the Club’s annual Hall of Fame event in June. Register your interest in the event ticket pre-sale below.
