Geelong made it back-to-back victories to start their AFLW campaign with a 27-point victory against Sydney on Saturday.

Here are the key takeaways from coach Dan Lowther's post-match press conference, presented by Viva Energy.

Lowther on how he saw the game...

It was a ripping start by our girls early to be accurate after getting some inside 50 entries early, and then make the most of it. It was a little bit frustrating to see the ball go back the other way freely at times and we were lucky that they had a few errant shots on goal which kept us on the right side of the ledger.

There were some warning signs there early, but there were some great signs of growth from the Swans from last year's game when we had it on our terms back at GMHBA (Stadium) to a really strong arm wrestle here. Proud of our girls for starting the first and second quarters really sharply and making it hard for the Swans to catch backup. So, really pleasing.

Lowther on Chloe Scheer's performance...

She looks dangerous. You just have to give her half a sniff and she makes the most of it. it's a tight ground here so I was surprised she got some space, but she just showed her class when she is in or outside 40 (metres) that she is a real threat in front of goal. Left foot, right foot, really good.

Lowther on the connection between Chloe Scheer, Jackie Parry and the other forwards...

It is exciting because they haven't played a lot of football together. This is only there second season together where they've had a chance to really gel and connect. So, hopefully it only gets better from here. You throw in Aishling Moloney as well, Kate Darby playing forward and Nina Morrison has a rest up forward as well. So, there is a little bit going on but those players in particular have a really strong connection. We move onto North Melbourne next week and hopefully we can replicate that again.

Lowther on where the improvement has come from...

Having a midfield together for another 12 months training and them connecting to ensure our front half are fluid from midfield stoppage to our front half is really important. We've trained that a lot over the preseason. Just that cohesiveness with our forwards or whoever plays forward needs to be able to connect and work together so we get those looks up front as opposed to making the most of opportunities and chances. We've got to minimise the chance and put the percentage up in our favour. So, that worked well today.

Lowther on Georgie Prespakis' performance...

We've had conversations about how good players have to wear the heat from other teams trying to nullify their influence. Georgie started like a house on fire as you would expect, I think she had nine or 10 touches in the first quarter and the Swans had to make a move, and they did.

Georgie is learning how she needs to handle that week to week and how it will effect her. They had Chloe Molloy who came in and out of the game at times as well, so it's just one of those things that Georgie needs to keep developing in her own game. As she gets better she just has to wear and understand that opposition teams are going to try and make sure that she doesn't have an influence.

Georgie to her credit from start to finish fought the good fight, didn't let it get to her head, stayed mentally strong and was still tough and fast. And, had significant influence on the win today, all be it like she had 34 possessions last week. So, very pleasing.

Lowther on the challenge of playing North Melbourne next week...

I hope we play a brand that we started in round one like today where we can dictate the game with some control, play our system and our method which all teams want. We can't leak as many goals as we did today. I thought our defenders did really well in deep parts of defensive 50 to defend but we will just tighten up the reigns around that space.

I am comfortable where the group is at right now and developed. North are a massive threat next week. Not to soften the final last year that we are still a bit dirty about but again it's just a good test for us. Back home where there is a bit more space on the ground. I think we will go okay.
