Geelong has announced the club’s fifth debutant for the season will play this weekend, with Ted Clohesy to pull on the Hoops for the first time against the Western Bulldogs.

Cats VFL coach Mark Corrigan told Clohesy in front of the playing group during Friday morning's captain's run.

This announcement follows the news that young ruckman Toby Conway will also debut on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium.

Clohesy was selected as a Category B Rookie in 2022 after a strong season with the Geelong Falcons where he averaged 23.5 disposals and 7.3 tackles per game.

A strong inside midfielder who can hit the scoreboard, Clohesy carried that good form into the VFL this season in games against Coburg (26 disposals, 8 marks, 6 tackles, one goal) and the Northern Bullants (26 disposals, 13 marks) and Sydney (16 disposals, 8 tackles, 1 goal), demonstrated his potential.

Clohesy joins Conway, Oisin Mullin, Cooper Whyte, and Jhye Clark as players pulling on the Hoops for their first game in 2023.
