TOM Hawkins has written another chapter in a brilliant career surpassing 750 goals following a career-high eight goal haul in Geelong's Round 7 victory against Essendon at the MCG on Sunday.

Hawkins set the tone early with four of his goals coming in the opening term, capitalising on a Geelong midfield that dominated both the clearances (15 to 7) and inside 50s (19 to 9).

Hawkins' performance in front of goal moves him ahead of Saverio Rocca into outright 15th for most goals in AFL/VFL history.

Matching the 34-year-old's form in front of goal was his ability in the air. Hawkins entered the round needing only four marks to surpass Corey Enright for most marks by a player at the Club. He finished with 12 for the game to take his career tally to 1845.

Geelong will host Adelaide in Round 8 at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday 6 May.
