If there’s one thing that stands out when you watch the 2022 version of the Cats is they’re having fun.

They’re having fun and they’re playing for each other.

Seemingly no team cheers harder for their teammates out on the ground, whether it’s a goal, a smother, or a tackle, the celebrations are shared.

Jeremy Cameron’s double cobra celebration of Max Holmes’ third quarter goal is one of the countless examples we’ve seen of it all season, and now the broadcasters are picking up on it.

Tom Hawkins was asked about the team’s connection post game.

“I'm glad you picked that up because that's certainly the way it felt out there,” he told Channel 7 post game.

“We had numerous passages, particularly in the forward third of the ground, where we talked about the energy.”

Luke Dahlhaus was a late-in for Patrick Dangerfield, and according to Hawkins is one of the Cats whose contribution extends beyond the stat sheet, something he demonstrated in his first game since Round 14 against West Coast.

“Dahl was great, he is very much an energy provider,” Hawkins said.

“He is fierce around the ball, gets it going forward, he's a great person amongst our group, so it was really pleasing.

“It was great for him to be able to come in and have an impact.”

Geelong is now a game clear of second-placed Collingwood after their 11th straight win on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium with games against Gold Coast and West Coast to come over the next fortnight.
