Chris Scott speaks to media ahead of Geelong’s clash against West Coast on Saturday at GMHBA Stadium.

Here are some of the key takeaways, presented by Morris Finance.

Scott on Dangerfield…

It was an exhaustive process to make sure that we got to the right outcome and I have been convinced that we have absolutely arrived at that. It’s a disappointing result but you have got to be careful that the result that you want doesn’t cloud what is the right result long-term.

I am guessing he is disappointed, but he is hiding it really well. He has been resilient, he’s tough and I think that was one of the difficult parts of the diagnosis.

Scott on who is in the mix to replace Dangerfield...

It opens the door for a whole lot of guys. He (Charlie Constable) is one of them, but he is one of a pretty big group.

Pat is the certainty to go out and I think Mark O’Connor (pictured) will be available and he’s in that group of players that could fill that spot.

Scott on Esava Ratugolea…

I am always tempted to play Esava because I can see the possibility of what he could deliver at AFL level, but our position has been to give him the best position to come in and do well at AFL level and that requires a certain level of preparation that we just don’t think he’s had yet.

For too long he has played at less than his best due to a lack of preparation – I would love to just see him come in and deliver what is he capable of over a sustained period of time.

Scott on the Eagles potent forwards...

We are clear on what their best footy looks like. There have been challenges over the past couple of years and even with a few key outs there is no reason to think that from watching them over the last few weeks that they aren’t as good as they’ve ever been.

I think their forward line obviously attracts a bit of attention but more than that it is the way that their system complements those forwards that impresses me.

Scott on De Koning playing this week…

I would like to think so, but it is difficult to say right at the moment. We’ve still got some stuff to work through, but I was pleased for Sam. I thought he acquitted himself at the level really strongly and he didn’t look out of place, and he is going to be a good long-term player.
