Sam Simpson has shown accelerated progress.

CLASSY Cat Sam Simpson is set to make his football return pending the successful completion of the week's remaining training sessions.

Jeremy Cameron and Brandan Parfitt will be tests for the weekend's action with hamstring and hip complaints respectively.

Jeremy Cameron (Hamstring)

“Jeremy Cameron has made some solid progress, particularly in his strength and his running," GM of Football Simon Lloyd says.

"Jeremy is very keen to don the hoops, we will assess all the information we have from the medical and conditioning teams.

"Myself with the coaches group will be guided and think big picture with our decision making going forward."

Sam Simpson (Quad)

"We’ve seen accelerated progress over the past couple of weeks and he’ll be available post getting through training and loading," Lloyd says.

"He should be available to play this weekend which is exciting."

Shaun Higgins (Thumb/Hamstring)

"Shaun Higgins had his left thumb operated on late last week. He’s currently in a splint and will commence his rehab progression with his hamstring strain as well," Lloyd says.

Francis Evans (Ankle)

"Francis Evans had a syndesmosis injury to his right ankle. He had surgery on that and we were happy with his progress and he will now start to commence his rehab."

Esava Ratugolea (Leg)

"Ratugolea played a half of the VFL practice match against Collingwood at Deakin University. He got through with no pain and he’ll be available to increase his playing volume this weekend."

Brandan Parfitt (Hip)

"We had to assess Brandan pre-game and he was obviously withdrawn from the team," Lloyd says.

"He’s had ongoing hip pain for a period of time and we’ve been assessing that throughout this week.

"We’ll make a further assessment on that over the coming days."

Cooper Stephens (Ankle)

"The medical and conditioning team are happy with Cooper’s progress," Lloyd says.

"There have been improvements in his running progress, he’s moved from the Alter-G to the grass. We’ll continue to increase his loads and training over the coming period of time."
