GEELONG captain Joel Selwood received maximum votes in the second week of the finals, to move to equal first in the race for the Gary Ayres Award for the best finals player in the eyes of the coaches.

Selwood, who finished the game with blood dripping from a cut above his eye, inspired his team to victory over West Coast with 26 disposals and a goal as it clinched a spot in the preliminary final.
