Geelong defender Jed Bews has agreed to a two year contract extension with the Cats.

A veteran of 80 games, Bews has been a regular contributor to the Cats defence since breaking back into the team late in 2016.

Bews missed the first part of the 2019 campaign through injury, but since returning he helped the Cats finish the home and away campaign on top of the ladder with the stingiest defence in the AFL.

“Jed has proved himself as a key member of our backline and can play a number of roles,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.

“He is an excellent teammate and is highly respected within the club. We are pleased to have secured Jed, who was eligible to become a free agent after the season.”

Bews joined the Cats as a father son selection in the 2011 national draft and debuted in 2014.
