Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij is confident that he will be right to face Collingwood in the first week of finals.

The 24-year-old missed the Cats round 23 win against Carlton with a hip issue.

“I had a little bit of irritation going into the Brisbane game,” Kolodjashnij said speaking to krockfootball.com.au.

“But speaking with the physios during the week, I was pretty happy to play, (and) they were comfortable with that decision."

“I stirred it up a little bit post that game, so I’ve been on pretty light duties for the last week.”

Kolodjashnij initially feared it was a more serious injury.

“I was actually pretty worried just because of the way I was coming down,” he said.

“It was all pretty nerve-wracking, but I knew straight away that it was pretty good.

“It was just a bit sore from the contact from the bones crushing (together).”

The last time the Cats met the Pies was in round one and Kolodjashnij was a big part of the seven-point win, helping curb the influence Jordan De Goey.

He is hopeful he will be right to return against Collingwood and potentially resume his rivalry with the dangerous pie.

“I’ve got roughly ten days until the final,” he said.

“So, I’ve still got plenty of time to put my case forward and get plenty of good fitness going into that game.”

Geelong will play Collingwood in the first Qualifying Final at the MCG on Friday 6 September.
