GMHBA Stadium is ready for a premium culinary experience with the mastermind of Wodonga’s prestigious Miss Amelie restaurant getting set to visit the home of the Cats.

Chef David Kapay will prepare a five-course degustation with matching wines for attendees of the upcoming Dining Collective presented by Higher Mark on July 26.

The globe-trotting chef has worked under the likes of Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and Jason Atherton in a career that has come full circle, with the experienced chef returning to our shores after time learning abroad.

He says his time in London working at the world famous Fifteen and Michelin-starred Maze restaurant came somewhat by chance.

“Honestly, a bad break up with a girlfriend (led me abroad). I had some mates in London so off I flew.”

It’s from these experiences overseas that Kapay draws inspiration today, including the name of his Wodonga restaurant.

“My wife and I met a sweet young French lady travelling from Nice to the Swiss Alps,” he says.

“She was kind, warm and welcoming. Her name was Amelie. Her characteristics still to this day are the frame work to our restaurants culture.”

Now back on Australian shores, Kapay is busy showcasing the best Australia has to offer in a ‘classic but modern’ style.

“We are a proud community and have some of Australia’s best producers in food and wine in our region. I take great pride showcasing local produce in my restaurant,” he says.

Anyone looking to book into the five-course degustation with matching wines and an address from Kapay can book via the link below. Tickets are $149 per person with discounts offered for bookings of ten or more.
