The Geelong Cats have welcomed the announcement today that an additional $20 million would be invested into GMHBA Stadium from an elected Labor government.

The funding will ensure the completion of the final stage of the redevelopment of GMHBA Stadium.

“As major and anchor tenant we thank the Federal Labor party for the $20 million election commitment to ensure completion of stage five of the GMHBA Stadium master plan” Geelong Cats CEO Brian Cook said.

“This is a commitment made following a $102 million commitment from the Andrews State Government. The club are pleased that these commitments will ensure the completion of the stadium master plan which was first developed in 2000. Two decades later this vision will eventually be achieved.

“The Stage 5 redevelopment will see huge benefits to patrons using the stadium on both event days and through community usage. While football supporters will benefit when the Cats play here, the wider community and local business will also see direct benefits from the redevelopment through the increased events that are held here.

“We are proud of the work that has been done to-date and feel that GMHBA Stadium has enhanced the reputation of Geelong and the region.”
