GEELONG has suffered a huge blow ahead of its match against Essendon on Sunday, with skipper Joel Selwood withdrawing due to soreness.

Lively midfielder Brandan Parfitt will come in as his replacement after missing last week's win over West Coast with a quad injury.

Draftee Charlie Constable has now been added to the Cats' emergencies after being omitted for the returning Jordan Clark.

Essendon has made two forced changes with Aaron Francis joining Orazio Fantasia in his return from a virus, with Mitch Brown (fractured wrist) and David Myers (managed) the outs.

The two sides will meet at the MCG on Sunday at 3.20pm AEST.
