Captain Joel Selwood has declared he will be available to play in his team’s two JLT Series games against West Coast and Essendon next month.

Speaking to the Geelong Advertiser earlier this week, Selwood has been working on a modified training program this pre-season.

“I expect to play both games,” Selwood said.

“I will head over to Perth and then back here and we’re hopeful — we have a lot of guys on the track at the moment — that we will have a full squad to pick from.

“We are ready for it too and it is the earliest we have started for a long time being out in the first week of finals.

“The boys are still in a pretty heavy loading phase so if you asked them to play a game their legs would be pretty heavy right now, but we will taper training off a little bit in the lead up to those games to make sure we put out a performance that we want to get out of it."

The Cats will kick-off the JLT series with a trip to Perth to take on the Eagles on Friday 1 March, before returning home to face a Bombers outfit who many are tipping to improve in 2019.
