A trio of returning Cats have been selected to play in the VFL against North Melbourne on Saturday.

Should they pass fitness tests, Scott Selwood, Cam Guthrie and Lachie Henderson are poised to take to the GMHBA Stadium turf at 10 am.

The match is a curtain raiser for the Geelong and North Melbourne AFL clash at 1:45 pm.

Selwood (back), Guthrie (ankle) and Henderson (knee) have all spent extended periods on the sidelines this year.

North Melbourne comes into the encounter off three straight wins and is threatening as one of the VFL’s in-form teams.

Both sides boast strong inside midfields and the battle in the centre of the ground will be key to determining the outcome of the match.

Tom Atkins, James Tsitas, Luke Kiel and Jordan Keras, dubbed the ‘Quartet of Carnage’, will be key to giving the Cats an upper hand in that encounter.

With George Horlin-Smith and Scott Selwood also named the Cats will have a strong engine room.

North Melbourne’s Nick Rippon, Chris Jansen and Nash Holmes will stand in their way.

With both sides placed mid-table and looking to push into the upper echelon of teams, fans can be assured of a tightly contested encounter.
