Geelong's running match/win percentage vs Richmond dropped below 50% for the first time in the 1919 season. It stayed under 50% at the end of each season (low of 38.0% at the end of 1950) until 1995 at the end of which it stood at 50.3%. It dipped to 49.7 at the the end of 2000 before a Cats' win in round 9 2001 gave the pair each 84 wins with three draws from 171 matches. Since then Geelong have won 15 of 16 matches against the Tigers.



Geelong won six of the first 19 matches vs Richmond at the MCG 1921-79 and has won 15 of the last 19 there 1980-2013 - including the last five consecutively 2002-13.

Geelong has won 17 of the last 19 vs Richmond at Kardinia Park 1983-2012.



Geelong has won 24 of its last 30 matches vs Richmond - the most wins from the last 30 matches against all opponents. Next most: 23 wins from the last 30 vs Melbourne,





Brisbane is the only opponent that Geelong has a lower win% against than Richmond does in the last 10 seasons.




Geelong have won all of their last nine matches vs Richmond with a percentage of 191.71% and 18 of the last 24 with a percentage of 132.09%.

Geelong's 35.12-222 vs Richmond's 9.11-65 in round 6 2007 was besides being the Tigers biggest loss to date, featured the highest 3/4 time score in the League's history - Geelong's 29.9-183. Next highest: Brisbane's 27.17-179 in round 3 1993.
 
The biggest win by any team that only won the last quarter of a match is Geelong's 50-point win vs Richmond in round 10 1985.  The Cats scored 11.5-71 to the Tigers' 1.2-8 in the last quarter to win 18.12-120 vs 10.10-70.



Geelong has topped Richmond on the final season ladder 63 times in the 103 seasons that they competed together in. From 1983 to 2013, Richmond only finished higher than Geelong in 1998, 2001, and 2006.

Since Geelong last played Richmond in a final (1995 preliminary final), Geelong have won more than half their matches in 12 seasons, Richmond has in only four.



Gary Ablett Snr. kicked more goals against Richmond than any other opponent, averaging six goals a match in 19 matches against the Tigers.
