Cats fans will get their first look at some of the club's newest recruits this weekend, with Geelong naming an extended squad of 26 players to take on the Gold Coast in their pre-season match at Austworld Centre Oval on Saturday.

The Cats will unveil recruits Mikayla Bowen, Jackie Parry, Shelley Scott and Ingrid Houtsma, along with draftees Mia Skinner and Brooke Plummer.

Bowen, who made her way to Geelong from West Coast during the Sign & Trade Period, will get her first competitive run through the Cats' strong midfield group, while former Demons Parry and Scott will find their place in the Cats' new-look attack.

Defender Annabel Johnson will make her return from a foot injury that ruled her out of the second half of Season 6, while forward Mia Skinner is back in the Cats' AFLW Hoops and will be pushing her claim to make a long-awaited debut, after she was picked up by the Cats again in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft.

Another who will be pushing to make her AFLW debut when the home and away season starts in two weeks is winger Ingrid Houtsma, a former Geelong Falcons player who crossed from Richmond during the Sign & Trade Period.

Tenacious young defender Plummer, who the Cats picked up with their second pick in the draft, will also get her first taste of AFLW footy, after impressing with the Northern Knights and Vic Metro earlier this year.

With a number of changes to their list over the off-season, the Cats will be eager to see the new line-up take to the field in their only competitive match before NAB AFLW Season 7 begins in a fortnight.

The Cats and Suns have typically lined up well on each other, with the Cats having won two out of three clashes. The Suns had the better last time they met, winning by 11 points at Metricon Stadium, but Geelong will be looking to hit the ground running after taking steps in a positive direction in Season 6.
