Jack was recruited from Golden Point and experts acknowledge he was one of the most brilliant centre half-forwards of all time. There was a touch of magic about his play. A former teammate and Premiership player Milton Lamb paid a special tribute when he said, “He could turn on a threepenny bit – he could spin out of trouble, he was fast, he was a good high jumper and took the big marks, and then kicked the ball 60 or 70 metres.” His exceptional ability allowed him to do anything he wanted. Elusive, possessing great kicking skills with either foot and magnificent high marks slotted him into a special category.
