Outlook

Missed most of the pre-season after surgery on the shoulder he injured in the 2011 Grand Final, then had to learn to play a different role – more as a hit-up forward because Tom Hawkins was stationed deep in attack. The mobile key forward was an effective contributor during the first half of the season, and notched his 50th game, at the age of 30, against Collingwood in round eight. But he struggled to regain his touch after suffering an ankle injury against Port Adelaide in round 14. Finished the year with 35 goals – his lowest tally in his three seasons at the highest level.
