The dual Brownlow medallist has returned to Geelong for an emotional homecoming after seven seasons with the Suns. Started pre-season early with the goal of playing every game in 2018, after four injury-hit seasons. Missed eight games in 2017 with shoulder and hamstring problems, but still won the Suns’ best and fairest for a fourth time. Believes his body is sound and aims to fill a role in the midfield. Signed a two-year contract, and despite turning 34 this year, isn’t ruling out playing beyond that if his body allows.

Player honours: Brownlow Medal 2009, 2013; 2nd Brownlow Medal 2010, 2014 (equal); 3rd Brownlow Medal 2008 (equal); Geelong best and fairest 2007, 2009 (equal); Gold Coast best and fairest 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017; Geelong 2nd best and fairest 2008, 2010; Geelong 3rd best and fairest 2005, 2006; All-Australian 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 (captain), 2012, 2013, 2014; AFLPA MVP 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013; AFLCA Player of the Year 2007, 2008, 2009; Geelong leading goalkicker 2006; Gold Coast leading goalkicker 2012, 2013; Geelong premiership sides 2007, 2009; Geelong pre-season premiership sides 2006, 2009; Gold Coast captain 2011-16.
