Saturday night’s win against Sydney has placed Geelong’s skipper, Joel Selwood, in front of the pack with a total of 92 votes for this year’s AFLCA coaching award.  

Senior coaches Chris Scott and John Longmire put Selwood in the lead after giving him four votes for his consistent performance of 24 possessions, two goals and six tackles.

Sydney’s captain Kieren Jack, who was also Selwood’s opponent on the weekend, sits just below the Cats’ skipper on 90 votes followed by Scott Pendlebury (Coll) on 87 and Gary Ablett (Suns) on 85.

Scott and Longmire gave Steve Johnson, who gathered 26 disposals, six marks and four goals, the most votes on Saturday night with seven and next in line was Jimmy Bartel (22 touches) and Mathew Stokes (career best of 37 touches) with five votes each.
