Chris Scott admits that the Cats were not playing their hardest brand of footy last time they met the Dockers, which is why he believes Saturday night’s game could have a different ending to the one before.

The Cats last encounter with the Dockers was in the Qualifying Final in 2013, where they were outclassed by 15-points at Simonds Stadium.

“Yeah we didn’t have a good game in the first week of the finals’ series last year, and to be frank we didn’t have a good game against Brisbane the week before either,” Scott told Cats TV.

However, this Saturday night Scott is confident that his 2014 playing group will stand up to the challenge, especially now that their stocks have increased in height with the inclusion of Dawson Simpson and Hamish McIntosh.

“I’m not sure we were at our absolute best which is something we like to think we can do – play our best footy when it really counts, but I think without going into the detail of the game style changes, personnel will make a big difference,” Scott explained.

“I’m not necessarily saying that we’re better but we had nine players playing in that game last year that won’t be there this season.

“To have almost half the team being different, I think means we do need to rely on our system and back that in.

“But we’ve also got some pretty exciting personnel, particularly with our big guys, that we didn’t have available to help with our game style last year.”

Chris Scott also discusses:
- upcoming debutants
- the benefits of bye-week
- converting inside-50s into goals
- And the difficulty of replacing an influential player like Mathew Stokes
