Adelaide veteran Jason Porplyzia admitted the inside information from former Geelong forward James Podsiadly will be utilised in the Crows’ preparation for their opening clash against the Cats on Thursday night.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge… I’m sure throughout the next couple of days; guys will pick his brain about players and things that Geelong does,” Porplyzia told www.afc.com.au.

Thursday night’s match at Simonds Stadium will be Podsiadly’s first in the Adelaide jumper and first against his former club. He played 83 games with the Cats, including the 2011 premiership, but this time the Cats will be looking to minimise his impact after the opening bounce.

Porplyzia is feeling confident heading into the game despite Geelong’s consistent performance at home.

“It’s probably the toughest (road trip) in footy. I think Sydney is the only side to win there in four or five years,” said the Adelaide forward.

“We know Geelong’s record and how good they are… We’ve done a bit of study on Geelong. From what we’ve been told, they’ve tweaked a few things but they’ve been the team to beat for the last seven years and I expect whatever they dish up, it’ll be pretty tough to beat.”

Porplyzia revealed the Crows will be looking to go down the middle on Thursday night, suggesting the players will need to keep the narrow boundary in mind.

“We’re aware of what the ground’s like there and you can’t go too wide. We’ll try and attack the corridor.”
