FIRST-YEAR midfielder Dean Gore is set to return to action when the Cats’ VFL team takes on the Casey Scorpions on Saturday afternoon.

Gore played just two games in the VFL in April and May before being grounded by nerve pain in his neck and shoulder.

There were concerns at one stage that Gore might be sidelined for the rest of the season, but he has recovered well since the cause of the problem was identified.

“He’s been training really well with the boys for two weeks now,” Cats physio Mark Young said on the latest episode of nib Medical Room.

“[He’s had] no signs of shoulder weakness, and he will come into strong consideration this weekend.”

This week's episode of nib Medical Room also features updates on:

* George Horlin-Smith (knee)
* Cam Delaney (foot)
* Nakia Cockatoo (adductor strain)
