MITCH Clark’s six-goal haul against Adelaide at Simonds Stadium on Thursday night had his teammates buzzing.

Clark opened the game with three majors and a towering mark across half-back in the opening quarter, and he finished with 17 disposals and six marks to go with his six goals.

Mark Blicavs was among the Cats players who were excited by his performance.

"He’s hit his straps and he just moved so well for how big and strong he is," Blicavs told CatsTV.

"He had great hands. He’s marking it well.

"As you saw last week when he kicked his first goal against the Gold Coast we all got around him.

"We know the value that he’s going to bring to the team this year."

Vice-captain Harry Taylor was also delighted with Clark’s effort.

"His leading was really positive. I thought in the last half of last week he took some big steps forward, and he was the dominant forward tonight, which was outstanding.

"Eight [goals] in the hoops already is a great start for him.

"We don't necessarily need him to be kicking goals every week.

"We just need him to make a contest, and tonight he got rewarded for the hard work he did."
