Geelong VFL games record holder Jack Hollmer has retired from VFL football.

Hollmer, who’s 106 games at VFL level is the most ever for the Cats, will play for Hampden FL club Port Fairy in 2016.

Cats Academy and VFL manager Troy Selwood praised Hollmer for his contribution to the club.

“He’s been a great servant of our club.” Selwood said.

“He’s the guy who was there the whole way through the journey, made sure he never dropped his lip, and just carried on and kept showing up for pre-season every year.”

Selwood, who played with Hollmer during his time as VFL captain, said the shaggy haired utility could always be relied upon.

“A credit to Jack, he’s been extremely flexible with the roles that he’s played for us,” Selwood said.

“He’s never whinged about what type of role he’s had to perform, and he’s been really durable.

“He’s an infectious personality that not only the VFL boys love and being around, but our AFL boys have really warmed to.

The VFL Cats are deep into their preseason ahead of their first practice match on March 12 against the Essendon VFL side.
