Cats recruit Aaron Black can’t wait to start pre-season with his new teammates.

The mid-sized forward joined Geelong from North Melbourne during the recent trade period and is looking to put a couple of frustrating seasons behind him.

“It’s very exciting,” Black told Cats Media during a recent visit to Simonds Stadium with fellow recruit Zach Tuohy.

“Like in any job, sometimes you just need a fresh change and fresh start and that’s what I’m looking forward to the most.”

Black, who hails from Bunbury in Western Australia, played 50 AFL games for the Kangaroos between 2011 and 2016.

His best seasons at the Roos were in 2013 and 2014 when he played 43 games and kicked 59 goals.

The 25-year-old missed a lot of footy during the 2016 season after suffering a serious ankle injury.

But he’s confident that he will start the pre-Christmas training block in good shape.

“I snapped a couple of ligaments about midway through the year, but I managed to play the last game of the year in the VFL,” he said.

“I had missed nine or 10 weeks.

“But it’s going really well. I haven’t missed a beat in my off-season program.”
