The Cats will place a time capsule in the new Charles Brownlow Stand.

The capsule will be opened 100 years from now in 2117 and has been made possible by the Geelong Cats History Society.

The time capsule includes a long list of items including a team signed Guernsey, a copy of Harry Taylor’s playing contract, a letter from Cats captain Joel Selwood to the team of the future as well as a letter from Cats VFLW player Rebecca Goring to the club’s future female leaders.

Geelong vice-president and chair of the club’s History Society, Bob Gartland, is particularly looking forward to burying the time capsule.

“As a club we value history a great deal. We have a history which spans 158 years and will continue long into the future,” he said.

“It’s extremely exciting to think that 100 years from now, this capsule will be opened and these items discovered by future members of the club.”

The time capsule also includes:
