Bec Goring and Maddy McMahon are two stars of Geelong’s inaugural AFLW team.

Goring, who lives in Torquay, has played VFLW for the Cats for two years and captained the side to last year’s grand final.

The 24-year-old was one of the first players selected for the club’s AFLW side and is relishing her role as a shutdown defender playing on some of the best forwards in the competition.

Away from football Goring is a talented musician and often plays gigs locally and in Melbourne. Recently Goring was interviewed on Triple J talking about her life as a singer songwriter/AFLW star.

McMahon began playing AFL just 12 months ago and in that time has found herself playing the sport at the highest level in the country.

Having made the switch from basketball to AFL, McMahon was signed to the Cats as a Rookie listed player for the club’s first season in the AFLW.

The 29-year-old is a mother of three and spends her time balancing her parenting duties with her AFL training.

Both Goring and McMahon were part of the Geelong Cats AFLW side that played in front of 18,000 fans in Round 1 this year.

The two will make up part of the panel at this year’s Fare on the Field event held on the surface of GMHBA Stadium on February 15.
