Geelong’s Nina Morrison underwent scans this morning which confirmed a rupture to her right ACL.

The Cats number one draft pick and AFLW round 1 rising star nominee suffered the knee injury during a training session at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday night.

Morrison’s AFLW career began last Saturday night in the season opener. The 18-year-old recorded 22 disposals, 8 tackles and kicked the match winning behind in the final minutes.

“It’s obviously an extremely disappointing situation for Nina and the club. Nina is a resilient young woman and will tackle her recovery from this injury as she does everything, with a determination and the precision to ensure she is back at 100% for next season,” Geelong coach Paul Hood said.

“The club will offer its support and care to Nina as she begins her rehabilitation.”

The club will work to determine the next course of action regarding surgery over the coming days.
