DYNAMIC midfielder Patrick Dangerfield was awarded the maximum coaches’ votes for his 39-touch performance against Hawthorn.

Dangerfield is finding his best form as the season reaches its pointy end, gathering seven more disposals than any other player on the ground during Saturday’s game.

The performance comes after another game-leading 39 disposals against Richmond the week prior.

Dangerfield wasn’t the only Cat to poll against the Hawks, with Gary Ablett also earning himself three votes for his three goals and 32 touches of the Sherrin.

Despite a strong performance from the Cats midfield duo, Hawthorn dominated the vote-getters with five Hawks receiving votes from Chris Scott and Alastair Clarkson.

Former Geelong Falcons captain James Worpel took home six votes, Shaun Burgoyne four, Isaac Smith and Jaeger O’Meara three and Tom Mitchell one vote.

The spread of Hawks taking home the votes brings to light accusations that the bottom end of the Cats list isn’t performing as required.

“It often happens… that assessment comes out when you lose,” Chris Scott said after the game.

“The short answer if you want it was we would have preferred a more even contribution across the team.”
